There are 3 types of Batu that we regularly use: Red Balau, Yellow Balal and Meranti wood. There are slight color and grain differences to tell them apart. Also known as Philippine mahogany, they are a brown clear hard wood that takes beautifully when oiled. You can achieve the rich dark mahogany look or if left un-oiled, it naturally weathers to give it a silvery patina. The tongue and groove soffit or siding comes in 4” or 6”, and there’s also venting strips to match.
